I’ve been shooting a longbow for quite some time. I don’t think I’ll ever stop. However the urge to get a recurve was there. This is my first one and I will probably always go to the longbow first but I needed to get a recurve. It’s really light and I’m excited to do a lot of shooting with it.

THAT is a very nice looking bow! Cute little girl too!
Who made the recurve? I shoot both recurve and longbow and have a blast with each one. My longbow is a 70#’er so it will be my bow for this year’s elk hunt. I haven’t decided one which one to take for mule deer. That’s the problem with having more than one bow….which one today?:?

Ray — You lucky Dad to have such a gorgeous and happy little girl. I had one once, but she went and grew up and now I’m a grandpa, aka Grumps. What I see there is that she’s not sure what the heck is this strange object she’s touching, but it makes Daddy real happy so she’s happy too. 😀

I shot recurves for years, starting about the time they first started appearing on the market by Bear, Pearson, etc. Nor did I ever have any good reason to switch to longbows other than I’d heard they were more of a challenge. And my first one sure was — couldn’t hit the inside of the house with it. Then I discoverd “hybrid” or reflex-deflex longbows, which seemed to have all the best qualities of both … basically a recurve with the curves spread through the limbs rather than at the tip. I kick myself every time I think about having sold my vintage Bear Blackbear, a short deeply recurved little go-getter. Variety is the spice. Anytime we see only One Way in any aspect of life, we are missing something. Enjoy. Snuffs

              Thanks fellas.

purehunter, this is a 2nd generation Thunderbird made by Jay St. Charles. Originally Jay’s father made this recurve model in 1953-54. This bow is made from Pacific Yew. I know Jay is making them from Ipe and using other fiberglass colors (brown and black) as well. I’ve been thinking about the Thunderbird for a couple of years. This one somehow landed in my possession – brand new.

Thank you for the comments. I love my little girl. She knows what a bow is but she hasn’t seen them shot yet. I believe she has connected that it brings home the bacon once in a while.

In Pennsylvania you can shoot both without fear of arrest. 😉
