I actually bought the glove I did, because I wanted a thinner glove, after shooting with Etter’s glove. I couldn’t hardly feel the string, and I wanted that “feel the string” sensation.

I know Etter loves a tab now, but I prefer a glove.

I am a glove shooter, and while I’m not sure where I got my current glove, I did have a “custom” glove that was actually made from leather that originated from a cape buffalo. The guy that had the buff hide was a rodeo rider and wanted chaps made from the leather. The guy that made the chaps kept the leftover leather and my glove was a product of it. It wasn’t a real heavy leather, but it was a very tough leather, and withstood tons and tons of shots and never showed signs of wearing out. I lost it one day after I visited a target range back home. The glove I have now is a thinner leather, which I like for the string feel, but it is already showing wear and will probably have to be replaced before too long. I like the thinner leather for the feel, and heavier leather for durability. My uncle had a glove for years made by the same guy that made my cape buffalo glove, and the fingers were made from shark skin. Also quite thin, but extremely durable. And shot oh so smooth!!

Sometimes, though, depending on your hand size, shooting a glove can suck. I have big hands…many of the L and XL gloves you can buy at archery shops flat don’t fit. Or if they do, they pinch. Thinner leather can help with this problem, too. Just another thought.

Tommy is dead on. I hate gloves. Probably why mine felt so bad as ive barely used it. Calf hair tabs for me.

I hated gloves also . I bought amrican leather elk glove and could not shoot . The arrow kept rolling off the shelf ??? I used it for a year and I believe it finally broke in – so I still use it. I also started shooting 3 under – seem to shoot better. I have a thinner glove but it hurts my hand so I use ALeather

I like my glove but I wouldn’t mind trying a tab either. Never tried a tab before.

I’ve tried a TAB many times and just can’t get comfortable with them . In spite of that I keep it in my possibles bag .

I have one thick glove which I made from scrap leather ,in ’93, patterned from one I bought in 1980.

I have a thin one which has the stalls from my Dad’s old glove sewn to horse hide . I shoot the same with either glove .

I alternate between the two gloves throughout the year .

I have some old Neet gloves that I’ve started shooting with again. They’re not to thin or thick. I shot a tab for years and do shoot better with one but my old hands are starting to get stiff and bit arthritic and I’ve “dropped ” the string a few times when using my tab. My third finger just gives away. Can be scary! So I’m going back to my glove so I won’t loose the string when I’m not expecting it. I hold on better it seems with the glove. That’s what I learned to shoot with anyway.

I’ve been a tab shooter almost exclusively from the start but recently I’ve been wearing my light leather work gloves to go stumping or rabbit hunting. Mostly because they also kept my hands warm but now I’m really starting to like shooting with the glove.

Thin! I like to feel the string.
