The third annual member rendezvous for Colorado Backcountry Hunters and Anglers will be held Friday through Sunday, June 10-12, in a gorgeous aspen grove on national forest land (with fresh elk sign all around) near Salida. Except for a 3-hour relaxed business meeting Saturday afternoon, it’s primarily a get-ackquainted event with campfires, beer (modest consumption only, of course :P) and endless hunting yarns and ATV war stories. While BHA is not a bowhunter’s group per se, trad bowhunters make up a significant percentage of BHA membership nationally and a few folks generally bring bows for some roving and plinking. If you’re a BHA member from CO or elsewhere, or a potential member who’d like to learn more about this no-BS, fast-growing “boots on the ground” sportsmen and women’s conservation group, please know you are most welcome to join us. Feel free to ask questions on this thread, or better yet for maps, photos and more details go to http://www.coloradobackcountryhunters.org

I plan being there, at least for part of it. I went last year, it’s a good time and a good group of people.

Josh, if you had a good time last year, when I hear it rained almost nonstop, it should be twice as good this year with fair weather (fingers crossed) which will also bring out more fair-weather folks like me. 😆

Ah yes, the beautiful collegiate peaks! I remember them well, wish I could be there in the “Banana Belt” of Colorado!

Idabow — Yep you missed a good one. Weather was perfect, location was paradise, skeets were scarce, and we had two dozen very engaged members plus several ladies and plenty of dogs that all got along fine. Great fun, productive for our collective causes, and we look forward to the event growing every year. Dave

I look forward to attending one of these in the near future for it sounds like it was a successful event. It’s great to hear of new events being offered and them being so well received, congratulations to the organizers!
By the way, I’ve been working on a cabin near Cascade, Idaho and have been reminded daily of the other big event coming up shortly, Elk season! Lots of them critters running around, gets one just a little bit excited thinking about all that goes with that event.
