As mentioned in another post we received Clay’s movie last night.
When you read Clays note on the back which explains the purpose of the film and then watch it–well all I can say Clay, it is mission accomplished!:D
I won’t give anything away to those less fortunate to have not seen it yet, will just say the cinematography,
music and narration is superb. One senses it is from the heart of a hunter. Just too damn short.
It requires further distribution–what a great educator.
Having said all the atta boys–time for Linda’s critique:
1. Must be an advanced copy–??– there is no label on the DVD.
2. No contact info on the jacket or DVD.
3. If you haven’t mass produced them Linda volunteers to edit your note on the back (it needs only minor punctuation changes.) Send it to our home e-mail and she will edit and send back. She does this for many organizations.

Mike, a couple hundred of us saw it at the BHA annual rondy in March … it easily earned a standing ovation and made more than a few eyes damp.

Thanks Mike, good observations. I can make some changes to the text if Linda wouldn’t mind sending them along.
I think the Idaho Dept. of Fish & Game is planning to run off about a thousand copies for all the hunter ed instructors around the state. If other states would like to do the same, that’d be great as well. Anyone who’d like to take this to their state agency to see if they can get something rolling, let me know.
For now, It’ll only be available on the film tour this fall and summer, aside from the copies that’ll go out for hunter ed, etc. I’ve also given BHA permission to use the film for pretty much whatever they want. once the tour is over, I’ll upload to the web for everyone to see.

Things sometimes happen slowly here in rural Idaho (which, come to think of it, is one of the many reasons I love living here…), and I only recently had the chance to watch Clay’s film in its entirety. What a fine antidote to so much of what gets portrayed as “hunting” in today’s media. I would like everyone I know who doesn’t hunt to see this film – it portrays the dedication, humility and respect that drives us, the woodsmanship and naturalist skills that are such a part of what we do, better than I ever could.
Being somewhat familiar with all the time, expense and work that goes into making even a short film such as this – thank you Clay, for doing such a great job of attempting to capture something that can be very difficult to accurately describe.
and for those of you unfamiliar with this project, here’s the trailer:

Preston – a buddy of mine who works for Idaho Fish and Game obtained a DVD copy to show when teaching Bowhunter’s Ed classes.

Where and how might we get a look at the whole video?
