BowDoc and Droptine69 on tradgang both do repairs and refinish and there are posts on tradgang for docs work and droptine had a website. Droptinetraditions.com I think.
Both have “refinishing and repair” threads on the two sites and super guys, very helpful. Keep in mind if you msg them, it IS season and I think Bowdoc is gone for a month. Not sure about Rich (Droptin).
Both do excellent work and are busy busy. I contacted both and both are months behind, so I glued my own for this year and will have one refinish it later on.
I just glued a small riser crack so I could hunt with the bow without worries of it getting bigger but be advised this glue, while GREAT for such, is VERY thin and sooner or later you will need to sand the area and refinish.
Over filling the crack is about mandatory but hold? You bet.
If small and on a larger part of the riser, Doc said I didnt even need clamps and was correct.
The glue is Loctite 420. Make SURE it’s 420 cause they are dozens and dozens of types. It is “wickable” and goes down in the crack and therefore THHHHHHHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNN and will run all over creation, dries VERY fast and cleaning it up is about impossible.
Any runs will sand off of course but when putting this anywhere, you want it go ONLY where you want. The runs dry in SECONDS.
On a deep riser crack or limb separation (requires clamps)…..let her set over night and string her up.
Riser cracks are a “no big deal” anymore. Doc said mine will last at least “another 42 years”.
