So, I’m sure you did this, but…. put the bigger loop over top the top limb and slide it down as low as you need to get the smaller loop over the bottom limb. Then put your stringer on and slide the upper loop up into the groves. Is the new string the same length as the old string?

Depending on how wide your limbs are you might have to stretch that top loop a little the first time. It might seem too short. When I was using my recurve, it always seemed like the string was too short. That’s probably one of the reasons a stringer is recommended as not to twist the limbs and avoid injury to you or the bow. In my experience with the older style and the fast flight style, the string always stretches. It seems to me to take a few days for it to settle in. I leave my bow strung and hung from hooks from the ceiling in the cellar. Not a pretty rig, but it works. I’d keep it strung and hug up out of the way so if something gives, nobody gets whacked. Shoot it and set your brace height, mark it and keep checking it now and then. Some folks put a line, either with marker or cresting, on their arrows for an easy reference for brace height.

This is just a guess, but I think your co-worker sold the bow because it was too short for him. Although he may have not pulled to full extension. In either case, I could easily be wrong.

Almost too embarresed to admit that every time I string my Bear (Supermag 48, 55 @ 28/47@22) I have a devil of a time. The exterme recurve (Fred called a working recurve) makes it want to reverse on me. 😥 Dosn’t help that the stringer string streaches almost double 😡

I hear you. I didn’t bother, but I bet if you replace the cheap nylon rope on your stringer with something made for rock climbing, you would get less stretch and more control and less grumpiness. 😉 dwc
