I have a Samick Deer Hunter takedown recurve. Farily good quality out of the box, not as smooth as my one-piece recurves, but entirely usable. For the money, certainly a good bow.

To date I have owned three Samick bows, and two have cracked up on me. I should say though that the failures did not occur immediately and the bows were heavily used and hunted hard. Good shooters for the money but not so hot in the long run.

I can’t speak directly to the Sage, but I can say that my Deer Master is a pretty fair shooting bow and entirely hunt worthy. My Stingray on the other hand will shoot as fast and smooth as anything out there.(#50@28″,480gr arrow, 180+fps@28″) Samick gets a bad rap from those who need to shoot customs, but fact is, they make some very good shooting bows for a reasonable, down to Earth price. Going on three years on the Deer Master, and two on the Stingray. No problems.

Got a stingray that just started to crack on the back of the riser beneath the shelf. 6o#, have been shooting the heck out of it in 3-d’s, light, fast and smooth. Good bow for the money except for the crack in the riser.

The Sage isn’t bad. I know several people who have purchased them for their wives, kids, other friends who were interested in shooting…etc. I noticed they upgraded quick.

The Deer Master is a great bow. I had a Phantom T/D and loved it and Ripforce had a Red Stag that was an excellent bow.

It would definitely be worth the extra money to buy either of the bows above. The Stag is going to be the best bow for the money IMO. Either will have better limbs than the Sage.

I beleive Samick is a major producer of bow limbs and risers for target shooting. I don’t have any personal experience with those bows but I have a Volcano that I bought on a whim because it was so cheap. I was really surprised at the overall quality of the wood and workmanship. It looked almost as good as a bow costing twice as much and it shoots very good. I am careful with my things so I don’t expect it to fail from abuse. So far it has performed very well.

I got one in 45# to use for bowfishing. For the money I have been very pleased with the Sage. It shoots really well. I did get a 58″ flemish twist string. It made the bow shoot better and quieter.
