Fri.4:18 pm ,, I shot my first deer. I t wasnt with a bow, but I will hopefully work up to that. I shot it with a borrowed Rem.700 30-06, approx 50-60 yd shot , hit it where I should have & it ran almost 75 yds , without being followed.
My sis & nephew have the dig, pics I got to get from them.

I told them . when I was about to make that shot “it was like being 15 again & asking out the hottest girl in school”
man , it was a serious feeling of exhiliration!!
went hunting again the next morn, and saw a buck ,, to small for the county ,to shoot. & again in even. saw nada.

Now I understand why you guys love this so much.

I am certainly not in your league , iused a rifle, and will for a while , then comp. then the ultimate ,, the trad bow.
Sitting in a plywood box blind ,, sure beat my last {1st} deer hunt ,, where I was sitting on a chair ,with nat.cover and it was raining & cold.
Just wanted to share this 48 yr old greenhorns excitement, guess your never too old 😀

          Congratulations Steve!
Like many hunters I also got my first deer with a rifle. And I’m not above hunting with one from time to time.

              Congratulations Steve

The best is yet to come, feasting upon the spoils of your labour, and of course telling the story of your hunt all over again.

              Well done, Mark.

                thanks Mark

Ive told the story a bunch already LOL
I am almost glad I came at this in mid life , the thrill is new to me. I sure aint giving up on the bow. even thought I got this w/ a gun.
I am practicing with the Quarf ,a board member gifted me. I like it better everyday. It shoots straight & fast.
My old shoulder problem seems to be going away too.
                I feel young again!

trad is a hard place to start, lol. But congrats on your first harvest. I know that I was questioning myself while still hunting yesterday with the snow hitting me in the face, on that cold 20 degree mountainside with my stick during gun season!

Congratulations on your first deer, and hope you are posting a thread on one taken with a trad bow in the future!

Thanks , trad is hard. I have a tendency to jump into the deep end of the pool! In most endeavors I have swam,, but this one is deeper than my resourses lOL.
I am keeping at it & PROGRESS ONE AT A TIME.
                        thanks for yalls encouragement.

Congratulations Steve, welcome to the club. Trad, compound, crossbow, gun…..it don’t matter man. What matters is genuine enthusiasm and love for the hunt.
