John, your headline is the good news on this story. Very sad and troubling. Dwc

Ya this kind of thing can effect us all. Weather it was a mistake or not. If they didn’t meen to then you will see new laws about shooting in your back yard. If someone ment to kill him archers will start to get put into the same group as guns and gun nuts will use this story to there adavntage “take guns away bows work to”. It could really impact alot of what is going on in the media. Couldn’t help but share this one. I will keep you updated If i hear more.

It’s really disturbing to read an article in the paper on a topic that I know anything about. Over and over it happens, and every time I am taken aback by the lack knowledge and context shown by the writers.
Which always leads me to wonder about the majority of topics, of which I am mostly ignorant, and what stupidity is being implanted in my head.
But should we be surprised? I know when I went to college, the students majoring in “mass communications” were not exactly the cream of the crop.
And yet, there have been some great reporters. And freedom depends on a free and prosperous press.
We should all be worried that the thousands of independent papers that used to grace our land have been bought up by just a few conglomerates. True for Canada too?
Oh well, as is true with most things, reader beware!

Yes this is true in Canada. And i agree with your point Given where I live I see it alot of it. Our part of the country does not get much coverage and when we do it’s on the wrong topics from the wrong angle.

Just a few days ago here in Michigan, not too far from here, a local Sheriffs Deputy was shot in the hip with a crossbow. The altercation took place at 0200 I believe it was. The 40 year old shooter went nuts – after accusing someone of stealing his pot plants (he started stabbing at someone with a pitchfork) and thus local LE got involved. I won’t judge the man, but I will agree that the MSP Trooper who put this guy down for keeps did the community a favor. I am real tired of people who can’t follow a few simple rules.

What a wack-a-doodle . Gives us all a bad name.

That’s one sorry SOB. I didn’t think Canada produced such slobs.

I just goes to show you how one sided the media is on hunting and firearms issues. There will always been some bad eggs. It’s not very often you read articals about the better side of things. This person had troubles. what sistem was in place to prevent this from happening. One person kill and a cop injured using weapons that ANY ONE coud buy. Trad equipment should be legally defind as different from modern.

John, if only the people who turnout for the political football game of gun control would turn out to address mental health issues we might make some progress. My humble opinion. Dwc

I agree which goes back to my point. Hating on good hunters makes better news then “I helped someone with a mental health problem” so some wack-a-doodle didn’t shoot me with a pellet gun. Both our countrys do a poor job of taking care of mental health. Sorry for creating such a sad thread but this affects us all as hunters and people This WILL be used by the other side as an example of why all hunter should be stopped.
