I applied for a Moose tag, as does every red blooded Northern Canadian hunter. But unlike most of these hunters, I never draw the bloody tag. Am I just unlucky? Perhaps I PO’d someone in Sustainable Resources? Or maybe I’m the victim of some vast Moose sympathiser(sp) conspiracy? I don’t know. What I do know is that in the last 12 years I have drawn a Bull tag once, while most everyone else I know has drawn 3-4 times. This year was no exception.

Then a buddy of mine called me last week to tell me that he (as usual) had drawn his Moose tag, and tried to console me because I (as usual) had not. But he also mentioned that there might be some undersubscribed late season tags for the WMU adjacent to ours.

Well yesterday was the first day one could apply for undersubscribed tags, and I found out my buddy had told the truth. Turns out there were 2 tags available for the Nov 1/30 season.

And low and behold I managed to snag one! For the first time in eight years I am going Moose hunting, cosmic forces be damned! Now all I need to do is a find a Moose.
