I get up every morning and walk 2-3 miles, I’m trying to get back in shape for bow season and gun season. I don’t own a four-wheeler, so I walk everywhere…
Anyway, this morning I was walking in a large park adjacent to our city cemetery; it is full of wildlife…deer, possums, raccoons, feral cats etc…..
I was walking towards a grove of persimmon trees and I heard a strange noise from up in the trees, I saw something come tumbling out of the treetops and hit the water in a little creek…then I saw what it was. A tabby cat, probably feral, had grabbed a squirrel and they both fell together…when they hit the water the squirrel was the firs to recover and he headed for Arkansas….the cat was in shock..it just stood there in the water. I heard it growl and then it ran off….that was one made cat..he didn’t get to eat today…the squirrel got to live.

Have to make the most of open public places, I know a guy that trained his gundog in Birmingham (UK) cemetery. Nice dog.

I grew up in Memphis next to Elmwood Cemetery. Many of my ancestors are buried there. My cousins and I played in that cemetery all the time, we were always reverent around the graves, but it’s really like big park in many respects.
We moved to the Ozarks in 1965 and I’m so glad we did. I took right to the woods and the rivers..

My first recollection of a mocking bird was when I was ten. We didn’t have any at our home, but there was always one singing bright and early at the same intersection along my paper route. Loved that bird. dwc

i walked up on 2 hen turkeys right at my feet in knee high grass. They jumped up and started squawking an flapping just a couple feet away. I thought “turkey attack”!! I had a bunch of fuzzy little turkey nuggets running around my feet. Boy those Mommas’ were po’d. I left and didn’t bother them.
