Hey just wondering instead of weight tubes has anybody ever used “ready rod”, you know the threaded bar that has no hex/screw head? I was wondering could a guy cut the desired length and insert with a glob of silicone in the arrow to keep it immoble and then instal the bh insert as normal on top of it? The threads wood grab some silicone and help adhere to the inner wall of the shaft. In my mind(sometimes a dangerous place) this could work. But that’s why I field the question to the pannel of “more experienced ones”, here. Thanks and best fishes<*)))>< nybubba

You will need to determine how much weight you want to add. And you will need to find the right diameter rod for your arrows.
The more weight toward the front of the arrow, the better your FOC will be, and the more stable the arrow will fly. In that aspect, the threaded rod would hold advantages over the weight tubes.
There are weights on the market that screw into the back of your insert. It is basically the same idea you had, only optimized to the correct thread for the inserts. Thus you can screw a variety of different weights into the back of the insert.
Or… you may want to consider using brass inserts. You can get 100 grain brass inserts, which may get you to where you want to be, and they are stronger and more durable than aluminum inserts…

The main problem you will find is that, while weight tubes do not affect dynamic spine (or affect it very little), adding weight just to the front of an arrow will make the shaft act weaker. Simply adding weight to the front of an well-tuned arrow will result in one that is out of tune, sometimes extremely so.

Ahhhh, so find the ultimate FOC and distributing extra needed weight while keeping somewhat of the spine integrity is the magic. Clear as mud. No really, I can see the importance of not “overloading the front. I’m just trying not to have to by another thing, 1)I’m a guy and we “fiddle” with stuff. 2)I have way more time than money right now. 3) Saying,”I’m running to the hardware store, do we need anything for the house?” Is better than saying “I need some stuff for my arrows. Would you like me to get you something dear?” aThanks for the input fellers. best fishes< nybubba
