With elk season over here I finally got around to tracking down Ed Ashby in El Paso, where the fickle finger of fate has nailed him to the hospital for the past 2.5 months, with as long left to go. Most of us knew that he’d had massive spinal surgery, 7 fused vertebrae! In the course of treatment for that it was discovered that he had a 7 on 10 scale prostate cancer, very aggressive. He’s now undergoing radiation for that. Also, a heart irregularity was found and he had surgery for that, 5 stints. The triple whammy. But Doc is cheerful and laughing as ever and has just completed updates on Part I of his research, which should show up here soon. So, he expects sufficient recovery to get out and attend a couple of big bowhunting shows this winter to which he’s been invited to spread the good word on how we can become more efficient and ethical predators via wise arrow system choices. Meanwhile he thanks everyone who has or intends to keep records of their kills, as it’s essential for credibility among the naysayers to build a large library of experiences and results from as many hunters as possible besides himself. Ed says hi to all and hopes to visit us here soon. Dave

Thanks for the update, Dave. We all wish him a speedy recovery. If anyone wants to send a card or letter, we will forward them on, but it has to say “Dr. Ashby” so we don’t open it. 😀

          send it to:
