        Hello all,

I’m just getting in to shooting traditional. I’ve been reading a lot here on the site…good stuff!

I just bought a Samick Sage 62″ Takedown Recurve and starting to practice. What a blast..getting some groups at 15 yards now and havent missed the bag yet at least…lol..I’m near Winchester, VA…anyone up this way?

        Happy shootin’,

        Don

Hello Rummy, welcome. I’m in southern OHio .

By brother-in-law just bought the same bow . It is a sweet shooter and good lookin’.

Will you be hunting traditional too?

I’ll be hunting with it when I can shoot it consistantly, definitely not this year. I’ll be hunting with my compound, a Hoyt Ultramag this year. People seem to really like the Sage and It works fine for me so far. Finish isnt great on it, as in cross-grain scratches, thin coat of poly, etc., but no big deal and I may sand and refinish at some point if I feel the need. At 139.00 bucks…what the heck. I got mine from Shaw’s Archery in Boyertown, PA..great folks to deal with and they ship stuff out fast.

              Welcome, Don!

The Samick is a fine bow for “getting your feet wet” and building the foundations of form and technique, and starting to get an idea of what you prefer.

If we can help answer any questions as you go down the trad path, don’t hesitate to ask!

Hi Don. Welcome to the site! This is a great group to ask questions and chat about everything related to traditional archery. And remember, it’s supposed to be fun.

If you have any questions about how the site works, just shoot me an email at webmaster@tradbow.com.

Yep, they seem like great folks and Mike helped me a lot just talking on the phone and a few emails. They’re about 3.5 hours from me so I might ride up there sometime.

Thanks for the warm welcome all!

                      Don

They go to many of the shoots, like B’more MD and other’s around PA…

I believe the shop is open “by appt” so don’t just decide to drive all that way w/out getting a firm time set w/ them.

Welcome aboard! Great sight and great folks. Be careful when you ask for advice as you will get a lot–all of it good—then you have to figure out how much of it you can afford:D. Having said that–I have learned that it’s best to ask before you purchase anything.

I’m in W.MD not far from you.
