The storms last night exposed it.

Unless that is a small riser, that looks like a freakin SPEAR point, not an arrow point! Looks huge in comparison! Crickey!

What’d they hunt in GA??? Mastadon?!!! 😯

          😆

          SWEET!!!

I agree: That thing looks very old and must be a spear point. It’s definitely not Clovis (not sure about GA, but FL has some of the riches Clovis sites anywhere), but must have been designed for very big critters. I hope you can take it to the local college and get some factual history on it. Here in CO, last fall I found a Clovis spear point exposed in a trail where I’ve walked to hunt for decades. It changes my life, as now when I go out, rather than scanning the woods ahead for game, I can’t get my eyes off the ground. A find like that connects you to your hunting grounds in a truly magical way. Congrats!

Cool, you found a bow to go with your broadhead!

Hey, good find…..I really enjoy find points and tools. 😀

Very nice! I’ve not seen one with that shape. So, Simmons didn’t invent the Tree Shark concept!!! 😀

Turkey or not, you just had a successful season with that find. Congrats! Nice pic too.

Thanks, Gents. After checking with some knowledgeable folks, and looking at type examples, I’m pretty sure it is a Pickwick stemmed blade. Possibly a heavily resharpened Kirk. Was probably hafted on to a handle and used as a knife. Middle Archaic….3,000-6,000 B.C.

Found a piece of pottery within a few feet of there a week back. Funny thing…..about 5 years ago I called in a double-bearded gobbler for Etter, which he killed. At the shot, his gobbler was standing almost on top of this point.

Just fascinating to think of all that has happened before in the very places we walk, live, and hunt.

Super find!!! Yup, it’s looks to be a Pickwick(well made, complete examples sell for 100’s of $$$), prob. a camp-site in that area, Hunt ‘Heads!!!… Coastal plains chert???

It is amazing to make finds like this, and know your hunting land that was used thousands of years ago by peoples using basicly the same gear…

                            Tail,

what a great find (and photo!). I love the vicinity of it to Etter’s turkey. Like Dave’s clovis find on his well trod track… what a wonderful connection to the land and those who have shared it before us.

Wow! when you sent the picture to my phone, I was admiring the snake skins and feathers on the bow. I didn’t even see the spear point. I need to pay better attention!:D

Wow great find–now I walk the path (like Dave) with my eyes focused down:roll:

Nice turkey find—while scouting for the buggers today–saw 11 hens and 3 gobblers one with at least a 7″ beard. Oh yes 18 Apr. is coming.

                                Mike
