I stumbled across this documentary about the Zo’e tribe from the Amazon. Just skip ahead to about 37 minutes the archery lasts till about 45 minutes in. It never really spends enough time showing anything but covers children and men practising, making and decorating arrows, making bows, bow fishing and the building of a blind.
Fair warning, no one in the documentary wears a shirt. Or pants. Or anything. But they do all sport a big piece of wood buried in their chins…
That was a real good one. For those interested check out The Unconquered: In search of the Amazons last uncontacted tribe. Scott Wallace—available on Amazon darn good read about the folks who protect the Indians and allow no contact.
I really liked the bowfishing part, it’s just goes to show that proficiency at both using and building a tool, means that that tool can simply be re-scaled to suit a slightly different purpose!
