Good Afternoon, My name is Rickey and I have one wife that has been married to me for the last 37 years with one son. I am retired from the US Navy after 20 plus years of service. My recurve bow is a Bear Grizzly 50# pull. I am just getting back into 3d shooting and will have lots of questions. I do not hunt but I will enjoy the 3d archery tournaments here in Missouri in the near future after I get some range time. I do not belong to any specific Archery Club at this time.

Rickey;
Greetings and Salutations from S.E. Arizona. Welcome aboard. Cheap advice; Find a pro shop that speaks Trad or someone you trust to give pointers on FORM. Master form and then it’s simply a matter of aiming for elevation. It really is just that simple. Don’t forget to have fun !!!!! I would also highly suggest that if you have a club with Trad members reasonably close to you ………… Join it. Good people = good times.

Greetings from SE Ks Rickey. Two events you need to attend are the annual MOJAM (Missouri Ozarks Selfbow Jamboree) held in Marshal, Mo every July and you can learn how to build your own bows, strings, arows, etc, along with shooting the 3D course. It’s a 3-day event and their info pages are on facebook.
Also just west of Stillwell, Ok is the OJAM event every March during school break at Lake Carl Blackwell. It’s the same as MOJAM and we’ve had attendance over 1500 people.
Check out http://OKSELFBOW.com
Look up Three Trails archery. They have a nice 3D course near Pleasant Hill, Mo and also Prairie Traditional Archers and their 3D course at Desoto, Ks.

Welcome aboard from an ex-Navy sonar tech! You hit the jackpot being married 37 years. I saw more marriages dissolve because the guys were gone at sea somewhere for half a year or more. I have been derelict in my attendance to this site, hope to improve on that. You will find an amazing amount of information here as well as folks more than willing to answer questions. Glad to see you here!
